Soaking Up English

Our unique food-based English classes blend food experiences with powerful language practice by giving learners the chance to build confidence in speaking, listening, reading, and writing, all while having fun with food opportunities.


How It Works


  • Each class begins with a short language warm-up, introducing key grammar, vocabulary, verbs, and phrases related to the session's experience.
  • Learners practice language skills with each other while cooking. 
  • After cooking, learners complete a short written reflection activity based on the experience.

Given the extent of persistent literacy challenges some learners are facing, there is an urgent need to support their literacy development. As learning coaches, our Nourish Readers program takes a unique role in providing one- on-one or two-on-one coaching sessions to learners of ALL ages!
